Dallas Cup Super Group Preview Tigres UANL

Dallas Cup Super Group Preview Tigres UANL
By Daniel Robertson

Dallas Cup Super Group mainstays Tigres UANL return this season for their eighth straight Super Group appearance. Beaten by Liverpool in the 2008 Super Group final, their best showing of the previous seven years, Tigres brings an U20 team that is sitting at the top of the Mexican U-20 league standings. The team from Monterrey is perhaps best known in American circles lately for their policy of bringing in young Hispanic talent from America for their youth teams. The entire Tigres youth system has at least a dozen Americans including Moises Orozco who will be featuring for the USA at Dallas Cup.

One familiar face on Tigres will be former FC Dallas Junior Jesus Gamino who moved to Monterrey after a year in the FCD youth system. There is not a whole lot of information about the rest of the Tigres group available, but given their league standing, Tigres are sure to be a tough opponent.

Tigres opens Dallas Cup play in an exciting matchup against the Japan National Team on Sunday afternoon on Pizza Hut Park Field #6 at noon. They continue group play the next day against the Dallas Texans at 6PM over at Richland College field #10 and close group play on Wednesday at noon against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Stay Tuned to the Dallas Cup blog for the final three previews of Chelsea, USA and Mexico as we have just 3 more days until the opening of Dallas Cup XXXI at Pizza Hut Park on Sunday, March 28!
